Having a great day outdoors? Drag those chaise lounges into the open and soak up those rays. Chaise lounges are the perfect pieces of furniture for outdoor lounging. Whether its for an afternoon on the porch or a sunny day by the pool, chaise lounges can provide that ideal resting place for any individual. Chaise lounges are long reclining couches that have enough room for the legs. The headrests and armrest(s) are common characteristics of this type of furniture. Some chaise lounges also have a partial backrest, usually situated at the same side of the headrest.

Styles and types of chaise lounges

Older models of chaise lounges, particularly those used indoors, resemble cushioned love seats missing an armrest and half of the backrest. There are also chaise lounges that resemble a single couch with an elongated body to prop the legs on. Chaise lounges used outdoors are often called recliners, and can be made out of a variety of materials. Some chaise lounges are padded and upholstered, while there are those that are made of flat slats of board. Chaise lounges are often added to decorate the living room or patio to provide a furniture for relaxation for the family or guests.

Chaise lounges can be found in different parts of a home. Here are just a few of the places where chaise lounges can be placed in.

Chaise lounges at patios

Chaise lounges can often be found at the patio. Perfect for people who want to curl up with a good book, lying down on chaise lounges can help them relax and savor a great afternoon. Chaise lounges can also serve as extra seats for gatherings at the patio. Or, if one wants an afternoon nap at the great outdoors, chaise lounges are just perfect for the purpose. Wicker, wooden, or metal chaise lounges are suitable for use at the patio.

Chaise lounges at the pool or beach

Soaking up the sun before or after a swim in the pool or the beach can be done in perfect ease and relaxation on chaise lounges. Chaise lounges by the poolside give swimmers a place to rest on while sitting up or reclining at an angle to catch the sun’s rays for a tan, or provide a vantage point to just watch people. Plastic or wooden chaise lounges without cushions are often used for pool or beach side settings.

Chaise lounges in cottages and porches

Recliners and chaise lounges are also staple pieces of furniture in cottages and porches. Chaise lounges can also be associated with the idea of vacation, as one can relax and just watch the world go by while sitting on a chaise lounge. Cushioned chaise lounges made of wicker or wood found in cottages and porches can also serve as extra beds when needed.
